O dwelling, left deserted beside al-Labab,
O abode, I dwelt beside the twisted sands
Between the ravines of al-‘Aqiq and the dunes,
Between the knolls of 'Aqiq and Kuthub.

Where their journey ended—may they receive
There they pitched camp and quenched their thirst
A downpour from a rumbling, roaring cloud.
Beneath clouds rumbling with thunder and rain.

She never wrapped herself in her waistcloth’s spare length—
She disdained not to suckle D'ad, though clad
Da‘d—nor was Da‘d fed from wooden bowls.
In a tattered cloak, nor did D'ad scorn her milk.
