ما لُمنا عَميرَةَ غَيرَ أَنّا

ما لُمنا عَميرَةَ غَيرَ أَنّا

نَزَلنا بِالعُرَيجِ فَما قُرينا

We found no fault with ʿUmayrah, except that we

We blamed Amirah for nothing except that we

alighted at al-ʿUrayjāʾ and were shown no hospitality.

Stopped at al-Urayj and were given no hospitality.

ظَلِلنا مُرمِلينَ بِيَومِ سَوءٍ

ظَلِلنا مُرمِلينَ بِيَومِ سَوءٍ

وَقَد لَقِيَ المَطيُّ كَما لَقينا

وَقَد لَقِيَ المَطيُّ كَما لَقينا

We remained without provisions through a day of misery,

We spent a wretched day without provisions,

and the mounts indeed endured what we endured.

And the riding camels suffered just as we did.
