Do you deny noble chiefs their descent from Maʿadd, claiming them for others?

You lied and spoke no truth: their lineage leads to Maʿadd.

Quḍāʿa sought no father in place of their father,

Maʿadd—and from Maʿadd their leather thongs were cut.

Quḍāʿa is a pillar of Maʿadd, and their mother

Belongs to Ḥimyar; an expert traces lineages.

So there is no good in abandoning prophethood and guidance,

And no good in a claim whose falsehood is exposed.

And the basest envoy returned to the smiths,

When the fine-bred she-camel's pack-saddle was unfastened from her back.
