سَنُخبِرُ أَهلَنا بِقِرى حِماسٍ

وَنُخبِرُ ما فَعَلتَ أَبا خُفافِ

We shall tell our people of Ḥimās’s hospitality,

We shall tell our people of Himas's hospitality,

and tell them what you did, O Abū Khufāf:

And we shall tell what you did, Abu Khufaf.

تَعَذَّرُ لِلنَزيلِ وَكانَ عِرقٌ

تَعَذَّرُ لِلنَزيلِ وَكانَ عِرقٌ

لَنا في اِبنَي نُمَيرَةَ غَيرُ جافِ

you make yourself unavailable to the guest, though there was a blood tie

You make excuses to the guest, though there was a vein
