فَلاso no خَوفٌfear عَليكَupon you وَلَنand will not تُراعيyou are alarmed
فَلا خَوفٌ عَليكَ وَلَن تُراعي
بِعُقوَةِin the domain of مازِنٍMazin وَبَنيand the sons of هِلالِHilal
بِعُقوَةِ مازِنٍ وَبَني هِلالِ
So you need not fear, nor will you be alarmed
So fear not their rage or flight
In the domain of Mazin and the sons of Hilal.
Of Mudar's son or Rabi'ah's knight.
هُماthey both الحَيّانِthe two clans إِنif فَزِعاthey both are alarmed يَطيراthey both fly
هُما الحَيّانِ إِن فَزِعا يَطيرا
إِلىto جُردٍsleek steeds كَأَمثالِlike the likenesses of السَعاليthe she-ghouls
إِلى جُردٍ كَأَمثالِ السَعالي
They are the two clans who, if alarmed, fly
At danger's call they take to flight
To sleek steeds like she-ghouls.
Like ibexes on mountain height.
أَمازِنُO Mazin ياO اِبنَson of كَعبٍKa‘b إِنَّindeed قَلبيmy heart
أَمازِنُ يا اِبنَ كَعبٍ إِنَّ قَلبي
لَكُمtoward you all طولَthroughout الحَياةِlife لِغَيرُsurely not قاليhating
لَكُم طولَ الحَياةِ لِغَيرُ قالي
O Mazin, O son of Ka‘b, indeed my heart
O tribe of Ka'b, my heart's delight,
Bears you no hatred throughout my life.
You'll live secure from all despite
غَطاريفٌnoble lords يَبيتُspends the night الجارُthe neighbor فيهِمamong them
غَطاريفٌ يَبيتُ الجارُ فيهِم
قَريرَat ease العَينِof eye فيregarding أَهلٍfamily وَمالِand wealth
قَريرَ العَينِ في أَهلٍ وَمالِ
Noble lords, among whom a neighbor spends the night,
While warriors guard your homes at night,
His eyes at ease concerning his family and wealth.
Watchful and dauntless in the fight.
