I used to worship her, and her death was decreed;

So I began to worship her image in my mind.

Then I began to worship in my thoughts her image.

ما ان وقفت حيال قبر ضمها

ما ان وقفت حيال قبر ضمها

الا خشعت كما خشعت حيالها

الا خشعت كما خشعت حيالها

Never did I stand before the grave that held her

When I stood before the grave that embraced her,

Without bowing in reverence, as I had bowed before her.

I bowed down as I did when I was face to face with her.
