Breaching it is no easy task for the mind.

That the mind cannot easily penetrate

The two worlds, this one to the other, are linked

Connecting the two worlds, this to that

By rings of ether in a chain.

ولعل الحياة بعد بوار

للخلايا منضمة للاثير

And perhaps life, after the demise

And perhaps life after destruction

Of the cells, is joined to the ether.

For cells joining the ether

انه مصدري الذي جئت منه

واليه بعد الهلاك مصيري

Indeed, it is my source, from which I came,

It is my source from which I came

And it is my destination after death.

And to it after annihilation is my fate

ولعل الاثير يبصر مالا

تبصر العين من وراء الستور

And perhaps the ether sees what

And perhaps ether sees what not

The eye does not see behind the veils.

The eye sees behind the veil

ولعل الاثير يسمع ما لا

تسمع الاذن من مكان شطير

تسمع الاذن من مكان شطير

And perhaps the ether hears what

And perhaps ether hears what not

The ear does not hear from a distant place.

The ear hears from a distant place

ولعل الاثير يعلم مالا

ولعل الاثير يعلم مالا

تعلم النفس من خفي الامور

تعلم النفس من خفي الامور

And perhaps the ether knows what

And perhaps ether knows what not

The soul does not know of hidden matters.

The soul knows of secret matters

ولعل الاثير اصل التروي

ولعل الاثير اصل التروي

ولعل الاثير اصل الشعور

ولعل الاثير اصل الشعور

And perhaps the ether is the source of deliberation,

And perhaps ether is the origin of intuition

And perhaps the ether is the source of consciousness.

And perhaps ether is the origin of feeling

ولعل الاثير هذا على الهدم

ولعل الاثير هذا على الهدم

وبدء الاكوان جد قدير

وبدء الاكوان جد قدير

And perhaps this ether can destroy

And perhaps ether is capable of destruction

And create universes, with immense power.

And renewing universes, able

ولعل الاثير في كل ارض

ولعل الاثير في كل ارض

وسماء كاللَه في التأثير

وسماء كاللَه في التأثير

And perhaps the ether, in every land

And perhaps ether exists in every land

And sky, is like God in its influence.

And sky, like God in influence

ولعل الذاتين واحدة في ال

ولعل الذاتين واحدة في ال

أصل والخلف جاء في التعبير

أصل والخلف جاء في التعبير

And perhaps the two essences are one at the

And perhaps the two essences are one in

Root, and the difference arose in expression.

Origin though different in expression

مذهبي وحدة الوجود فلا كا

ئن غير اللَه القديم القدير

My creed is the unity of existence, so there is no be-

My doctrine is oneness of existence, so no

ing other than God, the Eternal, the Almighty.

Being but God, eternal and able

ان هذا فلا ابالي اذا ما

اجمعت ثلة على تكفيري

اجمعت ثلة على تكفيري

If this is so, I do not care if

If this leads some to condemn me

A group unanimously agrees to declare me an unbeliever.

I care not if called an unbeliever

اهل عصري لا يفقهون حديثي

اهل عصري لا يفقهون حديثي

حبذا لو اتيت بعد عصور

حبذا لو اتيت بعد عصور

My contemporaries do not understand my words;

The people of my time do not understand my words

If only I had come ages later!

Better had I come after ages

ان هذا الوجود بحر خضم

ان هذا الوجود بحر خضم

ما له من شواطئ كالبحور

ما له من شواطئ كالبحور

Indeed, this existence is a vast sea,

That this existence is a deep sea

It has no shores, unlike other seas.

With no shores like the seas

انا فقاعة على الوجه منه

انا فقاعة على الوجه منه

وخفائي في وجهه كظهوري

وخفائي في وجهه كظهوري

I am a bubble on its surface,

I am but a bubble on its face

And my vanishing on its surface is like my appearing.

And my hidden side is like my visible
