وهل يستحق الرجم من هو لا شيء
They say I am nothing, even as they stone me.
They say I am nothing, yet they stone me.
And does one who is nothing deserve to be stoned?
And does one who is nothing deserve to be stoned?

Leave me alone—but not my followers—and criticize a man:
Leave me and my nothingness, and criticize a man
when he undertakes a deed, recourse galls his critics.
if his doing of a deed displeases his critics.

I am only a spreading tree that has been stripped bare,
And I am only a spreading tree stripped bare,
with neither leaves to entrance the eyes nor shade.
so there are no leaves to captivate the eyes, nor any shade.
