اذا صح تشبيهي الحياة بدوحة
فماthen ... not اناI الاexcept بعضone of اغصانهاits branches الجردleafless
فما انا الا بعض اغصانها الجرد
If my likening of life to a great tree is sound,
If my likening life to a spreading tree is sound,
I am nothing but one of its bare branches.
Then I am but one of its leafless branches.
يوارونthey bury فيin لحدa grave اذاwhen متI die رمتىmy remains
يوارون في لحد اذا مت رمتى
كأنas though بمنin one who قدalready ماتdied فقراًa need الىfor اللحدthe grave
كأن بمن قد مات فقراً الى اللحد
When I die, they will lay my remains in a grave,
When I die, they bury my remains in a grave,
As though whoever has died were in need of the grave.
As though one who has died had need of the grave.
