بأعماله الإنسان يعرف عقله
فليسfor there are no سواهاother than them للنهىfor reason منany موازينmeasures
فليس سواها للنهى من موازين
A person's intellect is known by his deeds.
A man is known by his deeds,
For reason has no measures other than these.
For they alone can judge his mind.
سليماًintact يظلremains الخيطthe thread بينbetween اولىthose endowed with النهىreason
سليماً يظل الخيط بين اولى النهى
وينقطعand breaks الجنزيرthe chain بينbetween المجانينmadmen
وينقطع الجنزير بين المجانين
The thread remains intact between those endowed with reason,
The thread remains intact between the sane,
And the chain breaks between madmen.
Yet snaps twixt those estranged from reason's light.
