على العقل قد عولت لله ناشداً

على العقل قد عولت لله ناشداً

وعقلك لا يملى عليك ولا يدلي

وعقلك لا يملى عليك ولا يدلي

You have relied on reason, seeking God,

I relied on reason, imploring God,

yet your reason neither dictates to you nor voices an opinion.

Yet your reason cannot guide or enlighten you.

وما انت في يوم من الدهر واصل

وما انت في يوم من الدهر واصل

الى اللَه الا ان خرجت من العقل

الى اللَه الا ان خرجت من العقل

And on no day in all of time will you reach

Never in your life have you reached God

God unless you step outside reason.

Except by turning away from reason.
