She is one of the bashful, fair-skinned women, pure of complexion;
From the shining white garments her color is pure
she disputes with a foe who found nothing to fault in her.
She charges a foe who finds no fault in her
فَماfor no مُزنَةٌraincloud بَينَbetween السِماكَينِthe two Simāk stars أَومَضَتflashed

For no raincloud between the two Simāk stars, flashing
So a sword flash between the two hosts has not glanced
with light, then swept by its south wind,
Brighter than her, then she wheeled about showing her back
بِأَحسَنَany lovelier مِنهاthan her يَومَon the day قالَتshe said وَعِندَناand among us
مِنَfrom among الناسِthe people أَوباشٌriffraff يُخافُis feared شُغوبُهاtheir troublemaking
was lovelier than she the day she said—while among us
"Better than this have we," she said "and among us
were some rabble whose troublemaking was feared—
Are louts who fear our mischief and trouble"
تَعايَيتَyou feigned helplessness فَاِستَغنَيتَso you made do عَنّاwithout us بِغَيرِناwith others than us

“You feigned helplessness, so you made do with others instead of us,
You relied upon us, then spurned us for others
until the day each soul is met by its beloved.”
Till the day each soul shall meet its beloved
وَدِدتُI wished وَلاand not تُغنيavails الوِدادَةُlove أَنَّهاthat she
نَصيبيmy share مِنَof الدُنياthis world وَإِنّيand indeed I نَصيبُهاher share
I wished—though love avails nothing—that she
I wished, but wishing avails not, that I
were my share of this world, and I her share.
Were destined for her, when she was destined for me
