فَإِنso if يَكُit be عَنfrom لِقائِكَmeeting you غابَwas absent وَجهيmy face
فَإِن يَكُ عَن لِقائِكَ غابَ وَجهي
فَلَمyet did not تَغِبِbe absent المَوَدَّةُaffection وَالإِخاءُand brotherhood
فَلَم تَغِبِ المَوَدَّةُ وَالإِخاءُ
Though my face has been absent from meeting you,
Though my face is absent in our meeting
Yet affection and brotherhood have not been absent.
My friendship and affection remain steadfast
وَلَمand did not يَزَلِcease الثَناءُpraise عَلَيكَof you يَترىcome in succession
وَلَم يَزَلِ الثَناءُ عَلَيكَ يَترى
بِظَهرِat the back of الغَيبِthe unseen يَتبَعُهُfollows it الثَناءُpraise
بِظَهرِ الغَيبِ يَتبَعُهُ الثَناءُ
And praise of you has kept coming in succession,
Praise of you continues to flow
In your absence, praise following praise.
Even in absence, praise follows in your wake
