ياO أُمُّmother طارِقُa visitor لَيلٍnight قَدindeed أَلَمَّhas come بِناto us
يا أُمُّ طارِقُ لَيلٍ قَد أَلَمَّ بِنا
إِستَغنِميseize أَجرَهُthe reward for him فَالأَجرُfor the reward مُغتَنَمُworth seizing
إِستَغنِمي أَجرَهُ فَالأَجرُ مُغتَنَمُ
O mother, a visitor by night has come to us.
O mother of Tariq in the dark night that has befallen us
Seize the reward for welcoming him, for reward is worth seizing.
Make good of its reward, for reward is to be seized
كونيbe لَهُto him أَمَةًa female slave فيماin whatever يَحِلُّis lawful لَهُfor him
كوني لَهُ أَمَةً فيما يَحِلُّ لَهُ
وَرَفِّهيهِand comfort him فَفيfor in تَرفيهِهِcomforting him كَرَمُgenerosity
وَرَفِّهيهِ فَفي تَرفيهِهِ كَرَمُ
Be his bondwoman in whatever is lawful for him.
Be his servant in that which is made lawful to him
And comfort him, for in comforting him lies generosity.
And entertain him, for in your entertaining is nobility
