تَبَرَّمَhe grew annoyed إِذwhen جِئتُهُI came to him لِلسَلامِto offer greetings
تَبَرَّمَ إِذ جِئتُهُ لِلسَلامِ
وَماتَand he died مِنَfrom الخَوفِfear لَمّاwhen دَخَلتُI entered
وَماتَ مِنَ الخَوفِ لَمّا دَخَلتُ
He grew annoyed when I came to greet him,
He frowned at my greetings of peace,
And died of fear when I entered.
And died of fright when I entered.
فَقُلتُso I said لَهُto him لاdo not يَرُعكَalarm you الدُخولُentering
فَقُلتُ لَهُ لا يَرُعكَ الدُخولُ
فَوَاللَهِfor, by God ماnot جِئتُI came حَتّىuntil أَكَلتُI ate
فَوَاللَهِ ما جِئتُ حَتّى أَكَلتُ
So I said to him, “Do not let my entrance alarm you;
So I told him "Let not my entering disturb you,
For, by God, I did not come until I had eaten.”
By God, I have not come until I have eaten."
