My rainy memories have

A rainy eye that's laid to rest

سَخِنَت لِفَقدِ مَواطِنٍ

كانَت بِها قِدماً قَريرَه

Grown warm for the loss of places

Where once light-footed steps were blessed

أَيّامَ لِلأَيّامِ إِحس

انٌ وَأَفعالٌ نَضيرَه

Days match each day in feelings and in deeds

Those days when I, to a lover, was

أَيّامَ نَحوي حَيثُ كُن

تُ لِعاشِقٍ كَفُّ مُشيرَه

A guiding palm, his needs

In youths who never learned to store

في فِتيَةٍ لَم يَعرِفوا

لِدَوامِ نَيلِهُم ذَخيرَه

Against their fleeting days' demise
