أَقولُI say لَهاto her وَالصُبحُand dawn قَدalready لاحَshone forth ضَوءُهُits light
كَماjust as لاحَshone ضَوءُlight of البارِقِthe lightning المُتَأَلِّقِthe dazzling
I say to her, as dawn's light has shone forth,
I see the dawn's light as it shines bright
just as the light of dazzling lightning shines:
Just as bright as lightning's glittering light
شَبيهُكِyour likeness قَدalready وافىarrived وَلاحَand appeared اِفتِراقُناour parting
فَهَلso, would لَكِyou care فيfor صَوتٍa song وَكَأسٍand a cup مُرَوَّقِclarified
'Your likeness has arrived, and our parting is in sight;
The time of parting has come, my dear
so would you care for a song and a cup of clear wine?'
Is there a song or cup you hold near?
فَقالَتthen she said شِفائيmy cure فيin الَّذيthat which قَدalready ذَكَرتَهُyou mentioned it
وَإِنand although كُنتَyou have قَدalready نَغَّصتَهُyou spoiled it بِالتَفَرُّقِwith parting
Then she said, 'My cure lies in what you have mentioned,
She said, "What you mentioned will heal me
though you have spoiled it with parting.'
Though parting has brought anxiety"
