وَبُرمَةٍ وَبَوارِد

وَقَهوَةٍ ذاتِ لَونٍ

يَحكي خُدودَ الخرائِد

mimics the cheeks of secluded maidens,

resembles the cheeks of lovely maidens,

وَمُسمِعٍ يَتَغَنّى

مِن آلِ يَحيى بنُ خالِد

and a singer, singing away,

and a minstrel singing,

from the house of Yahya ibn Khalid?

إِنَّ المُضيعَ لِهذا

إِنَّ المُضيعَ لِهذا

نَزرُ المُروءَةِ بارِد

نَزرُ المُروءَةِ بارِد

Surely, whoever neglects all this

Indeed, whoever lets this go to waste

is cold and scant in noble character.

has little chivalry and is cold.
