وَبِالحيرَةِand in al-Hirah ليfor me يَومٌa day
وَبِالحيرَةِ لي يَومٌ
وَيَومٌand a day بِالأُكيراحِin al-Ukayrah
وَيَومٌ بِالأُكيراحِ
And in al-Hirah I had a day,
With distress I have a day
And a day in al-Ukayrah;
And a day with sighs
إِذاwhen عَزَّgrew scarce بِناfor us الماءُthe water
إِذا عَزَّ بِنا الماءُ
مَزَجناwe mixed الراحَthe wine بِالراحِwith the wine
مَزَجنا الراحَ بِالراحِ
When water grew scarce for us,
When water is scarce for us
We mixed wine with wine.
We mix rest with rest
