أَناI فيamong قَومٍpeople أُعاشِرُهُمI associate with them
أَنا في قَومٍ أُعاشِرُهُم
ماno لَهُمfor them فيin الخَيرِgoodness عائِدَهbenefit
ما لَهُم في الخَيرِ عائِدَه
I am among people whose company I keep,
I live among a people
who offer no benefit through kindness.
Who have no gain from good,
جَعَلواthey made أَكليmy eating لِخُبزِهِمof their bread
جَعَلوا أَكلي لِخُبزِهِم
عِوَضاًa substitute مِنfor كُلِّevery فائِدَهbenefit
عِوَضاً مِن كُلِّ فائِدَه
They have made my eating their bread
They make me share their bread
a substitute for every favor.
As payment for each boon.
