وَشَقَقتُ من جدي البَخيل إِهابَهُ

وَشَقَقتُ من جدي البَخيل إِهابَهُ

وَأَكَلتُ شَحمَ الكِليَتَينِ بِسُكَّرِ

وَأَكَلتُ شَحمَ الكِليَتَينِ بِسُكَّرِ

And I tore the hide from the miser’s kid goat,

I split the reluctant's generous robe,

And ate the fat of its two kidneys with sugar.

And ate the fat of kidneys with sugar.

فَهُناكَ ما دَنَتِ الأُكُفُّ لِهامَتي

فَهُناكَ ما دَنَتِ الأُكُفُّ لِهامَتي

لَطماً فَأَخرَجَتِ الدما من مِنخري

لَطماً فَأَخرَجَتِ الدما من مِنخري

Then palms drew near the crown of my head,

There, hands did not reach my pride,

With slaps, and so drew blood from my nostril.

Slapping, blood poured out of my nostril.
