دَخَلتُI entered عَلىupon باخِلٍa miser مَرَّةًonce
وَجَنّاتُand the groves بُستانِهِof his garden زاهِرَهblooming
I once called upon a miser,
Once I entered a miser's abode
And the groves of his garden were in bloom.
With blossoming gardens in that yard
وَقَدand indeed قابَلَfaced النَورُthe blossoms نَقشَthe patterns السُتورِof the curtains
فَأَعيُنُso the eyes زُوّارِهِof his visitors حائِرَهbewildered
And the blossoms faced the patterns on the curtains,
Where light had etched shapes on the windows
So his visitors’ eyes were bewildered.
Leaving visitors' eyes filled with awe
جِنانٌgardens of paradise تُعَجَّلُare hastened لِلباخِلينَfor the misers
وَنَحنُand we نُؤَجَّلُare deferred لِلآخِرَهuntil the hereafter
Gardens of paradise are hastened for misers,
Heavens hastened for the stingy ones
And we are deferred until the hereafter.
While we awaited the life hereafter
