prepared my cups, and said, “She will visit.”

joy rising over me at the thought of her visit.

I was longing's companion, calling my strength to aid;
my despair wrestled with it awhile, and it faltered.

And how can I feel alive, beset by doubt,
when one cut off from hope has no feeling?
