فاحذر من الدس إذا لا تكن

كعمدةٍ يصغى لشيخ الغفر

كعمدةٍ يصغى لشيخ الغفر

So beware of intrigue; then do not be

Like a village headman who listens to the chief of the watchmen.

لا يستحي السيد من عبده

لا يستحي السيد من عبده

إلا لعيب فيه أو من خور

إلا لعيب فيه أو من خور

A master feels no shame before his slave

Except for a fault in himself or out of weakness.
