يقولsay الجاحدونthe deniers أمنis it from ترابdust
يقول الجاحدون أمن تراب
يكونcome about الرجعresurrection ذاthis خلقa creation بعيدfar-fetched
يكون الرجع ذا خلق بعيد
The deniers say, “From dust—
The deniers say, “From dust
can the return come? This is a far-fetched creation.”
can resurrection come? This is a far-fetched creation.”
فقلso say إناindeed we وإنand even though كناwe were خلقناwe were created
فقل إنا وإن كنا خلقنا
منfrom العلقاتclinging clots واكتملand became complete الوليدthe newborn
من العلقات واكتمل الوليد
Then say, “Though we ourselves were created
So say: Though we were indeed created
from clinging clots, and the newborn grew complete,
from clinging clots, and the newborn took full form,
فإنfor indeed أباthe father of الخليقةcreation منfrom ترابٍdust
فإن أبا الخليقة من ترابٍ
ألسناare we not للترابto the dust غداtomorrow نعودwe return
ألسنا للتراب غدا نعود
the father of humankind was indeed formed from dust.
yet the father of creation is indeed from dust.
Are we not destined to return to dust tomorrow?
Shall we not return to dust tomorrow?
أليسdoes not الزرعthe crop يخرجُemerges منfrom ترابdust
أليس الزرع يخرجُ من تراب
ومنand from إخراجهits bringing forth ورقٌleaves وعودand a stem
ومن إخراجه ورقٌ وعود
Does not the crop spring forth from dust,
Do not crops spring from dust?
and from its emergence come leaves and stalks?
And from what it brings forth come leaf and stem.
ومنهand from it الحبthe grain والثمراتand the fruits طابتgrew wholesome
ومنه الحب والثمرات طابت
كماjust as طبناwe grew wholesome فليسso there is no بهاin them جمودinertness
كما طبنا فليس بها جمود
From it, grain and fruits grow sweet,
And from it, grain and fruits have grown wholesome,
as we have flourished; there is no lifelessness in it.
as we have; there is no inertness in them.
وأزهارٌand flowers زهتbloomed وذواتand beings possessing روحa soul
وأزهارٌ زهت وذوات روح
كماjust as فيناwithin us فيخلقso are created منهfrom it دودworms
كما فينا فيخلق منه دود
Flowers bloom, and beings endowed with spirits
And flowers bloom, and creatures have souls,
like ours; and worms are created from it.
as we do; thus worms are created from it.
وكمand how many للَهbelonging to God منof خلقٍcreatures عجيبwondrous
وكم للَه من خلقٍ عجيب
سواناbesides us واحتوىand encompassed العجبwonder الوجودexistence
سوانا واحتوى العجب الوجود
How many wondrous creatures God possesses
And how many wondrous creatures belong to God
besides us! Wonder encompasses all existence.

ولكنand yet ابنthe son of آدمَAdam فيin غرورdelusion
ولكن ابن آدمَ في غرور
ودعوىand a claim لاnot تؤيدهاsupport it الشهودthe witnesses
ودعوى لا تؤيدها الشهود
Yet the son of Adam lives in delusion,
And yet the son of Adam is in delusion
making a claim that no witnesses support.”
and in a claim that the witnesses do not support.
