ابنَ إِبراهيمَ طِب إِنّا وَإِن

ابنَ إِبراهيمَ طِب إِنّا وَإِن

قد اِذَقناكَ جزاءَ الظالِمين

قد اِذَقناكَ جزاءَ الظالِمين

Son of Ibrahim, be at ease: although we

Son of Abraham, forgive us though we

have made you taste the punishment of wrongdoers,

Have made you taste the oppressors' punishment

لَكِرامٌ إن غَضِبنا رَدَّنا

لَكِرامٌ إن غَضِبنا رَدَّنا

عن أَذى مِثلكَ طَبعُ الكاظِمين

عن أَذى مِثلكَ طَبعُ الكاظِمين

we are indeed noble; if we grow angry, we are restrained

It is noble if we get angry and yet refrain

from harming one like you by the nature of those who curb their anger.

From harming the likes of you - that is the forbearers' nature

إنَّ هذا الشَهرَ شهرٌ يَجتَنى

إنَّ هذا الشَهرَ شهرٌ يَجتَنى

فيه أَمثالُكَ صَفحَ الصافِحين

فيه أَمثالُكَ صَفحَ الصافِحين

Indeed, this month is a month in which

This month is one where the likes of you

those like you reap the pardon of those who forgive.

Are forgiven by the forgiving

قَد مَحَونا آيةَ الكفِّ وها

قَد مَحَونا آيةَ الكفِّ وها

نحنُ نَتلو اليومَ آيَ الراحمين

نحنُ نَتلو اليومَ آيَ الراحمين

We have effaced the verse of the hand, and behold,

We have erased the verse of retaliation, so

today we recite the verses of the merciful.

فَاِلزَمِ العُرفَ تَعِش في ظِلِّنا

فَاِلزَمِ العُرفَ تَعِش في ظِلِّنا

في عدادِ الكاتِبين المُكرَمين

في عدادِ الكاتِبين المُكرَمين

So keep to what is right; you will live in our shade,

So stick to custom and you will live under our

وَاكتُبِ الخَيرَ وَقُلهُ تُرضِنا

وَاكتُبِ الخَيرَ وَقُلهُ تُرضِنا

وَاِستَقِم تُرضِ إلهَ العالَمين

وَاِستَقِم تُرضِ إلهَ العالَمين

And write what is good and speak it; you will please us.

And write and speak good, that will please us

And be upright; you will please the God of all worlds.

And walk straight, that will please the Lord of all worlds
