    O daughter of Rome, do not be as

    Athens was, amid hearsay and gossip.

    فَاِستَوثِقي من شَرِّ ذاكَ المَآلِ

    You buried God's justice in His earth;

    So guard yourself against the evil of that outcome.

    Your people are a folk who examine idols,

    And take omens from birds—the birds of fancy.

    No wonder if their wits have taken flight,

    And through their waywardness they have fallen into madness.

    This is Tripoli, and her sons, the brave—

    —ones, urge forward the ranks of battle.

    The Italians' armored ships could not

    Endure the blasting and the volleys of arrows,

    Until they sank to the bottom, still manned,

    And defiled the resting place of precious pearls.

    فَاِزأَر فقد حان وُضوحُ الهِلالِ

    You have been forbearing, O lion, and have not yet sprung;

    So roar, for the time has come for the crescent to appear clearly.

    In your hand is the sickle; so reap with it

    The lives of peoples who have transgressed in error.
