Skillful authority in Egypt has for it
Radiant forms that captivate humankind.

فازَwon بالاولىthe first سَعيدٌSa'id إذwhen جَرىhe ran
فازَ بالاولى سَعيدٌ إذ جَرى
وَتَباطَأتَand you tarried فحُزتَso you gained التَاليَهthe next
وَتَباطَأتَ فحُزتَ التَاليَه
Sa'id won the first when he ran;

لَوif تَسَرَّعتَyou hastened وَوَسَّعتَand you lengthened الخُطاthe strides
لَو تَسَرَّعتَ وَوَسَّعتَ الخُطا
نِلتَyou would have won أَولاهاthe first of them وَنالَand he would have won الثانِيَهthe second
نِلتَ أَولاها وَنالَ الثانِيَه
Had you hastened and lengthened your strides,
Had you hurried and walked with longer strides
You would have won the first of them, and he the second.
