إن الذي أبقَيتَ في مُهجَتي
ياO مُتلِفَdestroyer of الصبِّthe lovesick lover ولمand did not يَشعُرhe notice
يا مُتلِفَ الصبِّ ولم يَشعُر
Indeed, what you have left in my soul,
What you left in my heart,
O destroyer of the lovesick lover, without his knowing,
O soother of passion, though unaware,
حُشاشَةٌa last remnant of life لوif أَنّهاthat it قَطرَةٌa drop
حُشاشَةٌ لو أَنّها قَطرَةٌ
تجولُdrifts فيin عَينَيكَyour two eyes لمnot تُنظَرِbe seen
تجولُ في عَينَيكَ لم تُنظَرِ
Is a last remnant of life—were it a drop
Is a splinter, which, if a teardrop,
Drifting in your eyes, it would not be seen.
Roaming in your eyes, would go unseen
