even if they show you a radiant sight.

what holds your guidance, yet you take no heed.

Time has—if you knew the terror of its speech—
an admonition that evenings and mornings repeat.

like one seeking to reach water without ever departing.

After Abdullah has died, held captive
beneath the soil, can serenity be hoped for or awaited?

They have hidden away a noble man whose merits
Time would invoke in apology whenever it stumbled.

which gloried in his eminence on the day of boasting.

It is to the chagrin of lofty honors, O their true master,
that the days and their reversals have hidden you away.
