إِنظِمى الدُرَّ يا سَمِيَّةَ إِسكَن

إِنظِمى الدُرَّ يا سَمِيَّةَ إِسكَن

دَرَ لافُضَّ عِقدهُ من فيكِ

دَرَ لافُضَّ عِقدهُ من فيكِ

String the pearls, O namesake of Iskan-

dar—may their necklace from your lips never be broken.

وَاِنثُريهِ فَالدُرُّ دُرٌّ وَإِن لَم

وَاِنثُريهِ فَالدُرُّ دُرٌّ وَإِن لَم

يَدِّخِره تُجّارُهُ في سُلوكِ

يَدِّخِره تُجّارُهُ في سُلوكِ

And scatter them, for pearls are pearls, even if

their merchants do not keep them on strings.

وَاِجعَلي فوق مَفرِق العصرِ تاجاً

وَاِجعَلي فوق مَفرِق العصرِ تاجاً

من نَظيمٍ إن شِئتِ أَو من سَبيك

من نَظيمٍ إن شِئتِ أَو من سَبيك

And set upon the age's head a crown

of strung pearls, if you wish, or of cast precious metal.

وَأَميطي عن الحَقيقَة ما يَح

وَأَميطي عن الحَقيقَة ما يَح

جبُ عَنّا جَمالَها من شُكوكِ

جبُ عَنّا جَمالَها من شُكوكِ

And strip from truth whatever

doubts veil its beauty from us.

بارك اللَهُ في خلائِقِكِ الغُرِّ

بارك اللَهُ في خلائِقِكِ الغُرِّ

وَفي أَصلِ دوحةٍ تَنميكِ

وَفي أَصلِ دوحةٍ تَنميكِ

May God bless your radiant virtues,

and the root of the spreading tree from which you spring,

وَوَقى من حوادِثِ الدَهرِ بَيتا

وَوَقى من حوادِثِ الدَهرِ بَيتا

عامرا بِالشُموس من أَهليك

عامرا بِالشُموس من أَهليك

and shield from time's calamities a house

filled with suns from among your kin.

إِنَّ لِلفَضلِ رَونَقاً وَجمالا

إِنَّ لِلفَضلِ رَونَقاً وَجمالا

بَهَرا الحاضِرينَ في ناديكِ

بَهَرا الحاضِرينَ في ناديكِ

Indeed, excellence has a luster and a beauty

that dazzled those present at your gathering.

قَد تَفَرَّدتِ في الأَنامِ بِرَأيٍ

قَد تَفَرَّدتِ في الأَنامِ بِرَأيٍ

غَضَّ من صَوتِ مَعشَرٍ جادَلوكِ

غَضَّ من صَوتِ مَعشَرٍ جادَلوكِ

You have stood unrivaled among humankind through a judgment

that hushed the voices of a group who debated you.

وَتَجَمَّلتِ بينَهُم بِخلالٍ

وَتَجَمَّلتِ بينَهُم بِخلالٍ

لم تَكَذِّب سيما الإِمارةِ فيكِ

لم تَكَذِّب سيما الإِمارةِ فيكِ

And you adorned yourself among them with virtues

that did not belie the mark of princely rank in you.

إيهِ لا كانَ سامعٌ لم يؤمِّن

إيهِ لا كانَ سامعٌ لم يؤمِّن

إِن دَعَوتُ الإِلهَ أن يُبقيكِ

إِن دَعَوتُ الإِلهَ أن يُبقيكِ

Speak on! May no listener live who does not say 'Amen'

if I pray to God to preserve you.
