روحيmy soul عَلىover دورِhomes بعضِsome of الحَيِّthe quarter حائمةٌhovering
كظامىءِlike a thirsty one الطَيرِthe birds تَوّاقاyearning إلىfor الماءِwater
My soul hovers over the homes of some in the quarter,
Like a thirsty bird yearning for water.
إنif لمnot أُمَتِّعI delight بَميٍّwith May ناظرَيَّmy two eyes غداًtomorrow
أَنكَرتُI shall disown صُبحكَyour dawn ياO يومَday of الثُلاثاءِTuesday
If tomorrow I do not feast my eyes on May,
I shall disown your dawn, O Tuesday.
