إِن هَيَّم الشعراءَ الثَغرُ وَالريقُ

إِن هَيَّم الشعراءَ الثَغرُ وَالريقُ

وَشاقَهُم كَأسُ صَهباءٍ وَإِبريقُ

وَشاقَهُم كَأسُ صَهباءٍ وَإِبريقُ

If lips and saliva drive poets mad with love,

If poets were enthralled by the lips and mouth,

and a cup of tawny wine and a pitcher stir their longing,

And the wine cup and goblet enchanted them,

فَلى بمجدِك تَوفيق العُلا كلَفٌ

فَلى بمجدِك تَوفيق العُلا كلَفٌ

لَم يَثنى عنهُ هَيفاءٌ وَمَعشوقُ

لَم يَثنى عنهُ هَيفاءٌ وَمَعشوقُ

then, Tawfiq of the heights, my passion is for your glory,

Then in your glory lies success supreme

from which neither a slender beauty nor a beloved has turned me away.

Undeviating and undeterred by maiden or adorer.

حَقَّقتَ آمالَ مِصرٍ حينَ كانَ لها

حَقَّقتَ آمالَ مِصرٍ حينَ كانَ لها

إلى عُلاك مدى الأَزمانِ تحديقُ

إلى عُلاك مدى الأَزمانِ تحديقُ

You fulfilled Egypt's hopes, while she

You fulfilled the hopes of Egypt, at a time when

kept her gaze fixed on your eminence throughout the ages.

The ages looked to your highness with belief.

وَهَدَّ حُكمُك ركنَ الظالِمينَ وَقَد

وَهَدَّ حُكمُك ركنَ الظالِمينَ وَقَد

عَدَلتَ حَتّى أَحبَّ الحَقَّ مَحقوقُ

عَدَلتَ حَتّى أَحبَّ الحَقَّ مَحقوقُ

And your rule shattered the oppressors' pillar; indeed,

Your rule shook the pillar of the unjust, and

you acted so justly that even those ruled against loved justice.

You ruled justly, so the wronged came to love justice.

وَشِدتَ في مصر فخر الاخفاءَ له

وَشِدتَ في مصر فخر الاخفاءَ له

فَلَيسَ يُنكِره في الكَونِ زِنديقُ

فَلَيسَ يُنكِره في الكَونِ زِنديقُ

And you raised in Egypt a glory plain to see,

In Egypt, you built the pride of construction, for which

so no heretic in the world denies it.

No skeptic in the universe denies credit.

فَالعَينُ ما طَمَحَت إِلّا رَأت أَثرا

فَالعَينُ ما طَمَحَت إِلّا رَأت أَثرا

لهُ بِتاجكَ تَرصيعٌ وَتَنسيقُ

لهُ بِتاجكَ تَرصيعٌ وَتَنسيقُ

For the eye never looks up without seeing a trace

The eye did not aspire except to see evidence

set and harmoniously arrayed in your crown.

In your crown inlaid with crafting and composition

مَولايَ وافاكَ بِالإِقبال عيدُ فِداً

مَولايَ وافاكَ بِالإِقبال عيدُ فِداً

بِالبِِر وَاليُمن مَصحوبٌ وَمَرفوقُ

بِالبِِر وَاليُمن مَصحوبٌ وَمَرفوقُ

My lord, the Feast of Sacrifice has come to you with prosperity,

My Guardian, may prosperity attend you as an Eid offering

accompanied and attended by goodness and good fortune.

with righteousness, good fortune, accompaniment and pursuit.

قَد راقَه ما به تَمتازُ من هِمَمٍ

قَد راقَه ما به تَمتازُ من هِمَمٍ

فيها لآمالِ هذا القُطر تَحقيقُ

فيها لآمالِ هذا القُطر تَحقيقُ

It has been charmed by the lofty aspirations that distinguish you,

It was filled with the resolves which distinguish you

in which this land's hopes find fulfillment.

In fulfilling the hopes of this region.

فَعِش لأمثالهِ طولَ المَدى فَرِحاً

فَعِش لأمثالهِ طولَ المَدى فَرِحاً

وَاِسعَد فَأَنت بِعَين اللَهِ مَرموقُ

وَاِسعَد فَأَنت بِعَين اللَهِ مَرموقُ

So live joyfully through long years to see more feasts like it,

So live long, happily, for the likes of it

and be happy, for the eye of God watches over you.

And be joyful, for you are regarded highly by God.

وَاِهنَأ به فَصفاءُ الوَقتِ أَرَّخَه

وَاِهنَأ به فَصفاءُ الوَقتِ أَرَّخَه

عيدُ الفِداءِ بِبِشرِ جاءَ تَوفيقُ

عيدُ الفِداءِ بِبِشرِ جاءَ تَوفيقُ

And rejoice in it, for the serenity of the hour has recorded its date:

And congratulate him, for the splendor of time chronicled it

The Feast of Sacrifice has come with joy, O Tawfiq.

The Feast of Emancipation arrived with the auspicious allocation.
