زِدincrease عُلُوّاًin loftiness فيin المَجدِglory ياO اِبنَson of عَلِيٍّAli
هَكَذاthus مَنwhoever أَرادَwished أَنto يَتَعالىrise high
Rise still higher in glory, O son of Ali.
Rise higher in glory, O son of Ali
Thus does one who wishes to rise high.
Thus one who aspires to ascend
قَدindeed حَوىhas gained الدينُthe faith ياO مُؤَيَّدَهُone supported by it
مِنكَfrom you هَزبَراًa lion وَديمَةًand a steady rain وَهِلالاand a crescent moon
Faith has indeed gained, O you whom it upholds,
Religion has found in you, O its supporter
in you a lion, a steady rain, and a crescent moon.
Groups from you - Hilal, Hizbar and Dimah
وَغَدَتand became جِلَّقٌJilliq (Damascus) تُناديكَcalls to you عُجباًwith pride

هَكَذاthus هَكَذاthus وَإِلّاand if not فَلاthen no لاno
And Jilliq began calling to you with pride:
Jilliq cries in wonder to hail you
Like this, like this—or else no, no!
Thus, thus and not otherwise
جِئتَهاyou came to her فيin الظَلامِthe darkness خَيلاًcavalry وَرَجلاًand foot soldiers
وَحَمَيتَand you protected النُفوسَthe lives وَالأَموالاand the wealth
You came to her in the darkness with cavalry and foot soldiers,
You came to it in the dark, horsemen and infantry
and protected lives and wealth.
And protected lives and wealth

إِنَّماonly كانَwas ذاكَthat قَطعاًan interruption وَزالاand it passed away
Thereafter, you care nothing for any foe;
After it you care not for any enemy
that was only an interruption, and it has passed.
That was but severance and departure
قَدindeed بَلَغتَyou have attained المُرادَthe desired aim مِنfrom كُلِّevery ضِدٍّopponent

You have attained your aim against every foe,
You attained the goal against every foe
and God spared the believers battle.
And God sufficed the faithful from fighting
