عارِضاهاmeet her, you two حينَwhen تَبدوappear عارِضاهاher two cheeks
وَسَلاهاand ask her, you two عَنabout فُؤاديmy heart هَلwhether سَلاهاit has forgotten her
Meet her, you two, when her cheeks come into view;
and ask her about my heart: has it forgotten her?
بِأَبيwith my father as ransom جارِيَةًa maiden جارِيَةrunning
ماnot شَفَتquenched غَلَّةَburning thirst قَلبيmy heart شَفَتاهاher two lips
I would ransom a running maiden with my father;
her two lips have not quenched my heart's thirst.
أَتَمَنّىI long for قُبلَةًa kiss مِنfrom يَدِهاher hand
وَسِوايَand someone other than me فيin الهَوىlove قَدalready مَلَّgrew weary of فاهاher mouth
I long for a kiss of her hand,
while another lover has already grown weary of her mouth.
