الحَمدُّall praise لِلَّهِto God السَميعِthe All-Hearing المُجيبthe Answerer
الحَمدُّ لِلَّهِ السَميعِ المُجيب
قَدindeed هَلَكَhas perished الشِركُpolytheism وَضَلَّand has gone astray الصَليبthe cross
قَد هَلَكَ الشِركُ وَضَلَّ الصَليب
Praise be to God, the All-Hearing, the Answerer.
Indeed, polytheism has perished, and the cross has gone astray.
ياO ساكنيdwellers in أَكنافَthe regions of مِصرٍEgypt أَناI
يا ساكني أَكنافَ مِصرٍ أَنا
أَبوAbu (father of) نَواسٍNuwas وَالصَلاحُand Salah الخَصيبal-Khasib (the bountiful)
أَبو نَواسٍ وَالصَلاحُ الخَصيب
O dwellers in Egypt's regions, I am
Abu Nuwas, and Salah is al-Khasib.
