تُرىI wonder عِندَwith مَنthe one whom أَحبَبتُهُI have loved him لاmay … not عَدِمتُهُI lose him
تُرى عِندَ مَن أَحبَبتُهُ لا عَدِمتُهُ
مِنَof الشَوقِlonging ماwhat عِنديI have وَماand what أَناI صانِعُdoing
مِنَ الشَوقِ ما عِندي وَما أَنا صانِعُ
I wonder: does the one I love—may I never lose him—
I wonder, does the one I love—may I never lose him—have
harbor the love I harbor? And what am I to do?
the longing I have? And what am I to do?
جَميعيall of me إِذاwhen حَدَّثتُI speak عَنof ذاكَthat one أَلسُنٌtongues
جَميعي إِذا حَدَّثتُ عَن ذاكَ أَلسُنٌ
وَكُلّيand all of me إِذاwhen حُدِّثتُI am told عَنهُabout him مُسامِعُears
وَكُلّي إِذا حُدِّثتُ عَنهُ مُسامِعُ
My whole being, when I speak of that one, becomes tongues;
All of me is tongues when I speak of that one,
and all of me, when I am told of him, becomes ears.
and all of me is ears when I am told of him.
