قولا لِطُغريلَ وَلا تُقَصِّرا

قولا لِطُغريلَ وَلا تُقَصِّرا

في سَبِّهِ عَنّي وَتَعنيفِهِ

في سَبِّهِ عَنّي وَتَعنيفِهِ

Say to Tughril, you two, and do not hold back

Tell Tughril, do not be remiss -

in reviling him on my behalf and rebuking him:

In censuring me and reproving me to him.

قَتَلتَنا بِالصِرفِ سُكراً فَلا

قَتَلتَنا بِالصِرفِ سُكراً فَلا

بَرِحتَ مَقتولاً بِتَصحيفِهِ

بَرِحتَ مَقتولاً بِتَصحيفِهِ

You killed us with the intoxication of unmixed wine—may you never

You have slain us with declension drunk, so you have not ceased -

cease to be killed by its mispointed spelling.
