جَنِّبTurn away عَنِfrom الدُنياthe world إِذاif جَنَّبَتit turns away
جَنِّب عَنِ الدُنيا إِذا جَنَّبَت
عَنكَfrom you بِإِكبارٍwith reverence وَتَنزيهand purification
عَنكَ بِإِكبارٍ وَتَنزيه
Turn away from the world if it turns
Turn away from this world when it turns
away from you, with reverence and purification.
From you with pride and aloofness
فَماfor ... not تَرىyou see فيهاin it فَتىًa young man زاهِداًascetic
فَما تَرى فيها فَتىً زاهِداً
إِنif لَمnot تَكُنit has قَدalready زَهِدَتit lost interest فيهin him
إِن لَم تَكُن قَد زَهِدَت فيه
For you see no ascetic youth in it
For you will not find in it an ascetic
unless it has already lost interest in him.
