O Thuʿal! How far from me are the sons of Thuʿal!

Ah, how fine are the people who dwell on the mountain!

I stayed with ʿAmr son of Darmāʾ at Bulṭah.

So, what a generous host, and how fine his deeds!

My milk-giving she-camel spends the day between Jaww and Misṭaḥ,

watching the partridge chicks walking about.

And a band of men with their bows never leaves her side,

driving the birds away until I tell them, 'Enough!'

So tell Maʿadd, the ʿIbād, and Ṭayyiʾ,

and Kindah that I am grateful to the sons of Thuʿal.
