Lo, a people beneath whom you stood yesterday—

It was they who protected your women neighbors, O clan of Ghudrān.

ʿUwayr—and who is like al-ʿUwayr and his kinsmen?

And Ṣafwān gave aid in the night of troubles.

The garments of the sons of ʿAwf are pure and clean,

And their faces at gatherings are radiant.

They brought the lost clan to their families,

And traveled with them between Iraq and Najrān.

So they have become—and God has favored them with this—

More faithful to a covenant and more loyal to neighbors.
