أَرَىI see إِبِلِيmy camels والحمدُand praise للهِto God أَصْبَحَتْthey have become
أَرَى إِبِلِي والحمدُ للهِ أَصْبَحَتْ
ثِقَالاًheavy إذاwhen ماemphatic particle اسْتَقْبَلَتْهَاconfronted them صُعُودُهاtheir uphill climbs
ثِقَالاً إذا ما اسْتَقْبَلَتْهَا صُعُودُها
I see my camels—praise be to God—have become
I see my camels, praise be to Allah,
heavy when faced with their uphill climbs.
Have become heavy when their ascent faces them.
رَعَتْthey grazed بِحِيالِin the vicinity of ابْنَيْthe two sons of زُهيرٍZuhayr كِليهماboth of them
رَعَتْ بِحِيالِ ابْنَيْ زُهيرٍ كِليهما
مَعَاشِيبُcamels quick to fatten on grass حَتَّىuntil ضَاقَgrew tight عنهاfor them جُلُودُهاtheir hides
مَعَاشِيبُ حَتَّى ضَاقَ عنها جُلُودُها
They grazed near both sons of Zuhayr,
They grazed in the meadows of Zuhair's two sons,
quick to fatten on grass, until their hides grew too tight for them.
Pasturing until their hides were too tight for them.
