By my life, she has departed, taking a lover’s desire with her—
Su'ad—and by parting has frightened one already afraid.

He had dwelt in the meadows around Mukhattat,
As far as al-Lujj, within sight and hearing of Su'ad.
مَتىwhenever تَرَyou see دَارًاa dwelling مِنof سُعَادَSu'ad تَقَفْyou stop بِهَاat it
وَتَسْتَجْرِand draw forth عَيْنَاكَyour two eyes الدُّمُوعَthe tears فَتَدْمَعَاso they both weep
Whenever you see a dwelling of Su'ad’s, you stop there,
And your eyes draw forth tears and weep.
