كَأنَّas though المُدامَthe wine وصَوْبَand the downpour of الغَمَامِthe clouds
كَأنَّ المُدامَ وصَوْبَ الغَمَامِ
وَرِيحَand the scent of الخْزَامَىlavender وذَوْبَand the melted substance of العَسَلْthe honey
وَرِيحَ الخْزَامَى وذَوْبَ العَسَلْ
As though wine and the downpour from clouds,
As though the wine and clouds' drifting veil
And the scent of lavender and melted honey,
And scent of spring and honey's runny trail
يُعَلُّis repeatedly moistened بِهِwith it بَرْدُthe coolness of أنْيَابِهَاher canine teeth
يُعَلُّ بِهِ بَرْدُ أنْيَابِهَا
إذَاwhen النَّجْمُthe star وَسْطَin the midst of السَّماءِthe sky اسْتَقَلْrose high
إذَا النَّجْمُ وَسْطَ السَّماءِ اسْتَقَلْ
Kept bathing the coolness of her teeth,
Her teeth's cold bites it lifts and sets aflame
When the star rose high in the midst of the sky.
When the star centers in the skies its claim
