مُلِثٌّ سِماكِيٌّ فَهَضْبَةَ أيْهَبَا
Wāridāt, al-Qalīb, and Laʿlaʿ were watered
He watered the maidens and the heart was stirred
by a lingering Simāk raincloud, which then watered the plateau of Ayhab.
A fleshy, sturdy youth then roamed the dunes
فَمَرَّthen it passed علىover الخَبْتَينِthe two lowlands خَبْتَيْthe two lowlands of عُنَيْزَةٍʿUnayzah

فَذَاتِ النِّقاعِ فانْتَحَى وَتَصَوَّبا
Then it passed over the two lowlands—the two lowlands of ʿUnayzah—
He passed by two low rises in Unayzah
then over Dhāt al-Niqāʿ; then it veered and descended.
With prominent hips then straightened and drew near

Then, when it hung down from the heights of Ṭamiyyah,
When he descended from lofty Tamiyyah’s heights
the east wind coaxed it, and it let its milk flow.
The north wind tousled him, so he wavered
