They are sleepless and bewildered; their eyes
With downcast eyes and confused countenances
are tethered by cords to the stars of night.
Their fortunes tied to the stars of night

Should a flame of love die down within their hearts,
That the embers of love in their hearts grow cold
cups would give them a draught of molten metal.
Cups of procrastination made them drink

And how could they seek escape from passion's fire,
How can they seek respite from the fire of passion
when beside them are women of modest gaze, alike in age?
When before them are fair-eyed gazelles
