Evening sauntered in its many-colored sash,
Among the hills, bestowing sleep upon the eyes.

And it caressed the bashful flowers, which lowered
Their eyelids, as a yielding lover does.

And it called the birds to roost, and they fluttered
Above the nests, their songs like an organ's.

A mountain for which I harbor a longing between my ribs
That nearly turned into a chronic illness,

So I poured its pure essence for my homeland to drink.

Struts in a garment lined with deceit?

I once thought there was a blessing in civilization,
Until I saw the savagery of the civilized man.

And steel alongside gentle words.
