    The heart throbs unceasingly;

My ribs nearly cast it out.

    My enchantress, in those lands.

    My eyes are closed,

    Yet I see those stars,

    Gleaming in the sky,

    Floating upon its dark depths.

So I imagine my enchantress taking pleasure

Among them in whatever she desires.

So I turn an eye about,

    Streaming with sorrow,

And see the stars wishing to

Plunge down upon me like hurled stones.

    Does not change

    That never finds repose.

In vain I console it with the thought of meeting

Her, though the meeting-place is far away.

    Are burning pangs and destruction.

    Led astray by love!

And seeks refuge, but is granted none.
