أهلاwelcome بمنto him who بثّspread فيناamong us الأنسfellowship والفرحاand joy
He has reached the sanctuary; cast off the sorrows weighing on your heart.
The fever came, so he hurried to your heart with solace
Welcome to him who has spread fellowship and joy among us.
Welcome to the one who brought us intimacy and joy
قدindeed قرَّfound solace عيناًin his eye ببيتat the House اللَهof God خاشعةhumbly submissive
تغضlowering طرفاa gaze لغيرtoward other than اللَهGod ماnever طمحاaspired
His humble eye found solace at the House of God,
His eyes found peace in the house of God, humble
lowering a gaze that never aspired toward any but God.
Lowering his gaze from all but God, he had no other ambition

And he went, rubbing against the corners of His Kaaba
He passed, caressing the corners of His house
the cheeks of a face that never turned away from goodness.
Turning his face from favors, he was unappeasable
وطافand he circumambulated بالبيتaround the House سبعاًseven times وانحنىand he turned لمنىtoward Mina
فنالso he gained فوقbeyond مناهhis wishes فيin منىMina المِنَحاgifts
He circled the House seven times and turned toward Mina,
He circled the house seven times and bent over in Mina
and there in Mina received gifts beyond his wishes.
There he attained gifts in Mina after effort

When he had fulfilled his purpose in his pilgrimage,
When he finished his Hajj and provision
he turned the reins, urging on the weary she-camels.
He turned the reins, urging the beautiful horse

So he returned fair-faced, through whom the clouds are entreated for rain,
So he returned, white, drawing rain from the clouds
while separation's face turned black and scowled.
And he returned, his face blackened from the sun

We had long been counting the days awaiting him,
We were counting the days from when
in a time that withheld him awhile, then grew generous.
Time had been miserly with him, but then generous

So al-Ghari's flank swayed with joy at his presence;
He swayed playfully in the bend of the valley
no wonder the sanctuary shook both its flanks with joy.
No wonder the fever made his body sway cheerfully

How many wounds were healed through his arrival
Oh, hail him who came to heal sorrow and wounds!
O living one who came to cure worries and wounds

He appeared; the assembly of excellence shone, and joy filled
He appeared and the forum of virtue shone radiantly
the radiant sciences, while the path of truth grew clear.
The pearls of knowledge and the path of truth became clear

And the garden of glory quivered, its tall trees flourishing,
The garden of the sublime blossomed with its tall trees
tender in growth, while the shower of bounty hung heavy.
The fresh greenery and dripping dew became moist

And time lent its aid, and hopes triumphed;
And fate was generous, hopes prevailed
glory's abode grew fertile, and time awoke.
Glory became fertile, time healed

Fervor grew strong, pains were cured
sickness resolved to depart, and hardship went far away.
Illness grew distant, troubles withdrew

We rose to greet a countenance, clear and radiant,
We stood to greet a shining welcome in the east
like the sun shining on the sky's horizon at midmorning.
Like the sun rising on the horizon at dawn

As if we were a slope of joys inclined

Toward us from comfort, each drinking a cup

A deep, vast ocean, deep of floor, turbulent
raging in its swell, pouring forth a flood of knowledge.
Flooding with the overflow of knowledge poured forth

He took the lead and won pure excellence, scooping it up,
He obtained the essence of virtue, drawing it forth
and whoever strayed went astray, sipping the seepage behind him.

O best of those who sought the House of God on the lesser pilgrimage,
O best of those who visited God's house in pilgrimage
and returned, exultant, robed in forgiveness.
And came adorned with forgiveness, elated

I did not listen to the blames of blamers against you
or would you heed a reproacher who censures your bounty?
Or lend an ear to slander calling you
