بني خزاعة أن طالت رماحكم

بني خزاعة أن طالت رماحكم

فليس إلا بنا لم يثنها القِصَرُ

فليس إلا بنا لم يثنها القِصَرُ

O sons of Khuzaʿah, if your spears have grown long,

It is through us alone that shortness has not bent them.

كانت لآبائنا آباؤكم وزراً

كانت لآبائنا آباؤكم وزراً

حلفا وأنتم لنا من بعدهم وزرُ

حلفا وأنتم لنا من بعدهم وزرُ

Your fathers were a refuge for our fathers,

As allies; and after them, you are a refuge for us.

إذا رَكبتم ركبتم هاتفين بنا

إذا رَكبتم ركبتم هاتفين بنا

وإن نزلتم ففينا تنزل السورُ

وإن نزلتم ففينا تنزل السورُ

When you mount, you mount calling upon us;

And if you alight, it is about us that the surahs are revealed.

وإن طعنتم فمنّا الرمح لهذمهُ

وإن طعنتم فمنّا الرمح لهذمهُ

وإن ضربتم فمنا الصارِمُ الذكرُ

وإن ضربتم فمنا الصارِمُ الذكرُ

And if you thrust, the spear’s keen point comes from us;

And if you strike, from us comes the keen, hard-tempered sword,

في حيث لا ورد للبيض السيوف سوى

في حيث لا ورد للبيض السيوف سوى

حمر الدماء ولا عنها لها صدَر

حمر الدماء ولا عنها لها صدَر

Where the white swords drink nothing but

Crimson blood, and never turn away from it.

الصادقون وكل الناس ما صدقوا

الصادقون وكل الناس ما صدقوا

والقادرون وكل الناس ما قدروا

والقادرون وكل الناس ما قدروا

We are the truthful, while all others proved false,

And the mighty, while all others were powerless.

إذا أسأتم صفحنا عن إسائتكم

إذا أسأتم صفحنا عن إسائتكم

وثم عنكم نرداً لخصم فاعتبروا

وثم عنكم نرداً لخصم فاعتبروا

When you do wrong, we pardon your wrongdoing,

And then we repel the foe from you—so take heed.
